In our seats, the sweat was running from our faced down the necks, but we made it!
After that, all the rest was easy. I watched three movies during the long flight from Frankfurt to Caracas and slept and ate and slept. Caracas was chaotic, but we ran into a man from Austria, who is living in Bolivia for 45 years now (why...??) and he helped us a little bit. The next plane took us from Caracas all the way to Lima. I had the window-seat, and look into the night, but there was nothing but darkness. Deep darkness. Every once in a while, a little light could be seen, maybe a village in bolivia or even a bigger city, but all in all nothing but darkness.
The arrival in Lima was very easy. I have the feeling, that the Peruvians are a lot more quiet and calm than the Venezuelans with all their babbeling and shaking. There were not many people. On more moment of excitement, but both backpacks had made it all the way to Lima. The immigration officer did not even look at us, he wrote "90 days" in our passports, stamped them and waved "vamalos!" Not many people in the entrance hall. And I heard someone shouting "Stefan, Nadège!", yes, John and his cousin came to pick us up with their car. I had been thinking, that the airport was not so far away from Miraflores, but thats wrong. We drove for allmost 30 minutes in the chaos!
Now, here we are. In the hotel Lexus, Miraflores, Lima, Peru, the first day of a 365-day-dream has come true, we are here.
I am still in the lobby, awaiting John, and he will take us on a tour through Lima.
Yes, we come!
